3 Celestron NexStar SE Telescopes

The Celestron NexStar SE range have a distintive style and unique features within a selection of telescopes to suit all budgets and levels of experience. Celestron’s previous short refractor telescope models were so well received by hobbyist astronomers that it inspired Celestron to go a significant step further and they excelled themselves with the release of the Celestron NexStar 102SLT Refractor.

Celestron NexStar SE 102SLT Refractor Telescope

This telescope is loaded with outstanding features, and with a variety of other accessories available, that is bound to be the pleasure of beginning and intermediate astronomers the world over. The tube is large and powerful at 101.6milimeters and offers an incredible increase of 63 percent in image brightness power over competitor 80-millimeter tubes.

This short-tube telescope with its f/5 optical system produces images that are so bright and crisp it is remarkable. The 102 SLT comes with a fully computerized hand control that is so easy to use; a beginner can master it in just a few observation sessions. The computerized hand control features a large database of over four thousand celestial objects for your viewing pleasure.

The keys on the command control are easy to understand and to the point. For instance, the sixteen-character display screen is back lit for ease of viewing information and scrolling. The Sky Align technology and Star Pointer finder scope (included) with red LED make alignment a snap. ALIGN; the computer goes to perfect alignment position with the selected star or object.

Direction keys, for perfect centering of the object in the star finder scope and eyepiece. These are just a few of the features that come standard with the Celestron NexStar 102SLT Refractor Telescope.

The stainless steel tripod comes fully assembled and can be set up in just a few minutes. The 102SLT has a large 1.7-degree field of view that is perfect for scanning large areas of the sky and land viewing as well, with the optional erect image diagonal. The erect image diagonal ensures that when the telescope is used for land viewing, that images are oriented properly, upright, and correct from left to right. Windy conditions, uneven terrain, or a bump to the telescope can cause reduced image quality.

Celestron has an optional vibration suppression kit that reduces vibration almost 100 percent. The kit consists of three suppression pads designed to fit between the bottom of the tripod legs and the ground. A straightforward and highly functional solution to the problem of image disturbance. This kit will work no matter what the surface or terrain is, and would make a fine optional accessory.

For those with an interest in observing the sun (please do not observe the sun with the naked eye or through a telescope with out a sun filter, serious eye damage will occur) Celestron has made a technical advancement with their new Astro Solar Safety Film solar filters. These filters are a technical advancement that is far superior to any glass, Mylar or polymer filters. Brighter, sharper, and higher- contrast images than was obtainable with out dated competitor filters. The sun will appear to the observer in its real color (neutral white) instead of blue or orange, and the sky adjacent to the solar limb is jet black.

Some hobbyist astronomers spend a significant amount of time in their observations, unfortunately, standard batteries can fail during extended observation periods Celestron has a new optional power tank 12 volt power supply, just in case the batteries fail. Features include 7-amp hour, two 12-volt output cigarette lighter ports, 3, 6, and 9-volt outputs for accessories and a host of other features as well. For the beginning or intermediate astronomer, the Celestron NexStar 102SLT Refractor Telescope would be an ideal buy.

Celestron NexStar SE

Celestron NexStar 60 SLT achromatic go-to altazimuth

The Celestron – NexStar 60 SLT is the perfect telescope for the beginner or the hobbyist. The go-to refractor, the SkyAlign technology, and the Star Pointer red dot LED makes finding and identifying stars a piece of cake. With the SkyAlign it is quick and easy to align the telescope. Once it is aligned you can search for more than 4000 objects in the sky, including stars, planets, and the moons of different planets.

Setting up your telescope is easy with the pre-assembled, height adjustable, stainless steel tripod. There are no tools required to assemble your telescope. There is also a convenient accessory tray attached to one leg of the tripod where you can safely place extra eye pieces, keeping them off the ground and out of your pockets.

The NexStar 60 SLT comes equipped with a hand-held control for the computer. During the first use you will be prompted to input the date, time, and location. The date and location are important because the earth changes position as the seasons change. The time is also relevant because the earth rotates, causing the stars to be in different positions in respect to the horizon. After alignment you can browse the different categories listed on the controller and decide what you want to view.

It comes with 2 eyepieces of different magnification, a CD-ROM Level 1 planetarium and star charting software, and has a 2 year warranty. The eyepieces offer different magnifications. One is a 25mm that is used primarily to view objects on the ground. The 9mm eyepiece is used to view objects in the night sky.

Upon first use, it is easier to learn how to use the different magnifications during the day. Practice when it is easy to see, and when you feel comfortable with your focusing abilities take it out at night and start your night gazing. The CD is a windows based program that allows you to explore the Universe on your computer. It also shows objects that are not programmed into the NexStar 60 SLT database.

The Celestron – NexStar 60 SLT achromatic go-to altazimuth is great for the casual observer to use either during the day or night. If, upon use of this telescope, you decide that this has become more than a hobby you can always upgrade later to a higher resolution telescope.

Light and portable, this telescope goes anywhere. A Newtonian reflector telescope, the NexStar 130 uses mirrors instead of lenses, which produces a much brighter image over a wide viewing field. Two quality eyepieces are included: both a standard 25 mm eyepiece, which magnifies the image 26 X, and for deeper viewing, a 9 mm eyepiece that boasts a 72X magnification. The result is deep night-sky images that are crisp and detailed.

For those who might be quickly overwhelmed by complicated gear, the NexStar 130’s set up makes night-sky viewing fun and accessible for everyone. But for those more advanced star enthusiasts who might want to upgrade, the NexStar 130 is also compatible with the more advanced NexRemote software.

One of the most useful features of the NexStar 130 is its SkyAlign function, which includes a star pointer finderscope with a red LED light. No longer do you need to fumble with a star map or compass while trying to locate your viewing position. With SkyAlign, you simply enter the date and time, and then point the scope at three bright stars.

Not only will it give you the names of those stars, but once aligned, the telescope’s database can find for you over 4,000 stars, planets, and galaxies. And for those with a thirst for more astronomical knowledge, also included is the educational CD-Rom “The Sky” astronomy software, which includes printable sky maps.

So go ahead: Explore the night sky. With the NexStar 130, astronomical success is only moments away.
